Tasneem Noorani has been a career bureaucrat with 37 years in service, his last two postings being Secretary Commerce and Secretary Interior (Govt of Pakistan)
During his posting as Secretary Education (Govt of Punjab), he developed a passion for education and initiation the concept of taking over/adopting Government primary schools in 1996 by setting up his own NGO by the name of READ.
He worked for eight years as Chairman of Sargodhian Spirit Trust, an organization of old boys of PAF School Sargodha, and participated in the setting up and development of a state of the art cadet college in Sind by the name of SST Public School Rashidabad and initiating another similar school in Baluchistan.
He set up TNF in consultation with Dr Amjad Saqib, Founder Akhuwat, to give form to his old passion of building low cost residential schools, being convinced that a) round the clock education is the best means to transform the personality of a child and b) low cost model is essential to replicate such schools fast.
Noorani is considered an expert in national security issues and bureaucracy due to his hands on experience in government. He frequently writes op-eds in national newspapers .
